Timing is everything

People use Facebook a lot. Some days and times are more popular than others. For instance, in the US Facebook is very popular on Sunday evening. That means a Status Plug ad posted on Sunday evening will be seen by a lot of people. It also means it will move down the stream more quickly because of all the activity. So, is Sunday evening a good time to post a Status Plug ad? We are trying to figure that out…

One of our goals is to find out what day and time gives a status update potential to reach its largest audience. This probably varies by location. For example, it might make sense to post a Status Plug ad at 5 am pacific time if it is aimed at New Yorkers, but that is probably too early if you are trying to reach an audience in California.

We are starting to analyze the data and see what we can find. Does anyone else have ideas?

See some Status Plug ads

We worked with Stayclassy.org to promote the Elemental Experience, a concert and art festival in San Diego. Stayclassy.org’s people were fired up with the results they got from using Status Plug. Unfortunately the ad included a music video that the Admin and the Sponsor did not realize was copyrighted. Facebook removed the video, and thus the ad. They did not remove the ad until today (the day after the concert) so, luckily it served its purpose.

Since you cannot see that particular ad due to its removal, here is another one to check out. The Shins are playing two nights in Portland this week. May 6 & 7.  The Portland admin just put up a post about the show.

The first week

Status Plug opened for business Friday, April 24.  Our launch was covered by Allfacebook, Mashable, and Inside Facebook in that order.  Here is a big thank you to them and everyone else for the great coverage.

In the last seven days we had a lot of conversations with page admins, advertisers, agencies, bloggers,  and other random folks.  We even got a call from someone at Facebook.

As of today, the pages in our directory have over 1.9 million fans.

We will be adding helpful features in the days to come… and hopefully many more pages.

Thanks to everyone for a great first week.
